What is USDC?

USDC is a US-dollar stablecoin. In x402, prices are quoted and paid in USDC, so a “$0.01 per call” price means one cent of USDC — predictable, dollar-denominated amounts that suit tiny per-request payments.

Stablecoins matter for agent payments because the unit of account is stable and the amounts can be very small without the overhead of a card transaction. Paywall prices and settles in USDC on the Base network.
